Piper Perabo

At the end of Season 1 of USA’s spy action series, “Covert Affairs,” rookie CIA Agent Annie Walker was reunited with her boyfriend, Ben Mercer (Eion Bailey). But even though the rogue spy finally came in from the cold, Annie shouldn't bet that the couple will be happy as Season 2 gets underway (9 p.m. Tuesday, USA; ** out of 4)
“Ben is not that trustworthy of a guy,” Piper Perabo, who plays Annie, told me Friday. “In Season 1 he puts Annie in a lot of dangerous situations and kind of doesn't go help her out. I get sort of mad that Ben doesn't help Annie out a little more ...
“It’s like that with any kind of bad boy romance. You kind of can't tear yourself away but you know he's really not that good for you. So it's tricky with Ben.”
Perabo was quick to point out that Annie has plenty of options if Ben doesn’t pan out.
“At least she’s got Auggie in the office; he’s so easy on the eyes. And Jai Wilcox, too,” Perabo said, mentioning the characters played by Christopher Gorham and Sendhil Ramamurthy, respectively. “They're certainly, you know, quite distracting men if Ben Mercer doesn't make it.”
