The Google logo has seen a number of overhauls over the years, but none quite like the one that graces the search engine's homepage today.
Over the next 24 hours, the Google doodle has been transformed into an interactive tribute to musician and inventor Les Paul.
Users can drag their mouse over the playable guitar chords to make their own music. A Google blog post said that the Google doodle honors the spirit of Les Paul, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, on his birthday.
"In keeping with this spirit of tinkering, those of you in the U.S. can click the black 'compose' button to record your own 30-second track," Google posted on its blog.
The search giant said the playable Google logo was created using "a combination of JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas (used in modern browsers to draw the guitar strings), CSS, Flash (for sound) and tools like the Google Font API, goo.gl and App Engine."
Once users are finished recording a 30-second track on the guitar chords, a link is produced so Internet musicians can share their work.
