Two Minnesota women were arrested last week for stealing more than $2,000 worth of items fromTrue Religion, an upscale clothing store that specializes in denim products.
According to police reports, Marnika M. Jackson and Yasmeen M. Almonte were seen leaving the clothing store with several items of apparel that they never paid for. The two ladies then loaded the stolen goods into the trunk of their car and attempted to drive away, but were stopped by police officers in the process.
After searching the vehicle, officers apparently found additional stolen merchandise within but were unable to calculate the value of the goods due to the fact that price tags had been previously removed.
Northbrook Court Shopping Center’s relation supervisor Mike Shep had the following to say:
“Some stuff has tags, some stuff doesn’t have tags, I don’t know if we’ll ever have the value of the clothes, because they don’t all have tags.”
Shep went on to say that several bags of clothing were seized by the police but as to the exact number, he was unsure. What he was sure of however, was that the $2,126 total value that was placed on the items stolen from True Religion was off. In Shep’s opinion that value should have been significantly higher and given that TR jeans average anywhere from $150 to $300 dollars a pair, we have to agree with him.
