Neil Patrick Harris sang and danced, battled Hugh Jackman and closed the ceremony by rapping during last night's Tony Awards.
And those are just some of the "How I Met Your Mother" star's hosting highlights.
Harris opened the show with a tongue-in-cheek musical number that declared the Tonys "are not just for gays anymore." It involved Stephen Colbert, Brooke Shields, Bobby Cannavale and bunch of bleeps.
Later, he engaged in a Tonys host face-off with actor Hugh Jackman, who has hosted previous ceremonies (this was Harris' second time hosting). They started off by bantering on what it takes to be a good host, then launched into an "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" song-and-dance number. They riffed on everything from pacing to keeping the show on time to improving gift bags.
Harris also promised not to do too many "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" jokes - only as many as he could fit into 30 seconds. One of them was: "I sent Bono [who composed the show's music with U2 bandmate the Edge ] a congratulatory cable, but it snapped."
Others targets of Harris' humor included Daniel Radcliffe, Angela Lansbury and Al Pacino.
He also performed a second time during the broadcast, with the star-studded cast of "Company," and finished off the show by rapping.
