Lee Dewyze

Are you one of the thousands of American Idol fans wondering why Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze didn't perform on last night's finale show? DeWyze claims he wasn't invited to perform. Of course, his fans are now royally pissed at executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, charging that Lythgoe didn't ask DeWyze because he didn't think he'd pull in the ratings of the other performers he could book (like, uh, Lady Gaga), which is undeniably true.
However, isn't excluding last year's winner from the finale performances a total snub against what the show is all about? Isn't that just wrong, no matter how you look at it -- especially with dollar bills in your eyes.
We heard a few days before the finale that DeWyze would not be performing when he tweeted:
Hey guys, no I'm not performing at the Finale. I wasn't asked to . A lot of questions so I thought I'd fill you in. Talk to you soon :)
Boo, Lythgoe. Why would you snub one of your former winners like that? Just because he hasn't hit the big-time? Then it looks like Lythgoe tried to gloss over the snub by "allowing" DeWyze to present winner Scotty McCreery with his winner's award last night; however, DeWyze turned the offer down, according to Lythgoe, who tweeted:
I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn't present the winners trophy to Scotty. Especially as he'd been on the show this Season. I guess he was shy
Passive aggressive much, Nigel?
The way I see it, DeWyze was probably hurt by the snub and thus refused to play the part of last year's grateful winner, which Lythgoe wanted him to play. I see his point; however, it probably didn't hurt Lythgoe a single bit since American Idol's ratings were through the roof last night. Sadly, DeWyze's refusal probably only hurt his own career, album sales, and his fans, who would have loved to see him even as just a presenter. Instead, they only caught a glimpse of DeWyze on the red carpet and in the audience.
