Costing the Earth: Digging up the Past With a Metal Detector

*
Alice Roberts asks about the effects of the new metal detecting technology on the survival of the archaeological record on Radio 4's "Costing the Earth: Digging Up Britain", well worth listening to here (for only a limited time). Its an unusually balanced piece, despite the usual twaddle from the likes of Trevor Austin (14:05 onwards). Bland's pronouncements at 22 minutes also deserve attention. The magical finite resource that does not run out; sounds like those coin elves have been busy.

Hat-tip to Heritage Action, thanks.
